Blackjack Institute Classes with MIT Blackjack Team Players

Blackjack Institute Class Overview

Blackjack Institute classes were taught by actual MIT students featured in Bringing Down the House. The classes were presented as a full day of expert instruction and hands-on training focused on blackjack play.

Training took place in a mock casino environment. This setting allowed participants to move beyond discussion and sit down to play during the class. The program combined instruction with practical activity, giving attendees an opportunity to work through their play in the presence of MIT Blackjack Team players.

Instruction and Practice

The class format included several opportunities for direct participation. Students could ask questions during the seminar and have their play evaluated. They could also sit down and play with the MIT players described as having “Brought Down the House.”

The Big Player Checkout

Participants also had a chance to attempt the MIT Blackjack Team’s Big Player Checkout. The checkout was presented as a challenge within the seminar experience. According to the class description, a participant who could meet that challenge would receive the seminar free of charge.

The Blackjack Institute class was therefore structured around instruction, practice, evaluation, and direct interaction with the MIT students associated with the team. Rather than limiting the experience to a lecture, the program emphasized a mock casino setting and the chance to play alongside the instructors.
