Casino Verite (CV) is Blackjack Institute-branded training software powered by QFIT. Its stated philosophy is casino realism, with tools intended for beginning, intermediate, and advanced blackjack players. The program is designed to help users work through blackjack strategy and card-counting techniques gradually, track their progress, and identify errors before attempting more complex play in a casino setting.
Learning blackjack strategy step by step
The software includes a 24-lesson tutorial covering blackjack basic strategy and card counting. It also provides 37 drills intended to help users develop accurate play. Drill options can vary the number of cards shown, their placement, and their orientation, and use photo-realistic discard trays. Advanced drills include back-counting two tables, while chip-counting drills are included for tournament players.
CV supports numerous basic-strategy and card-counting approaches. More than 400 strategy tables are included, along with support for Over/Under 13 strategy. Listed strategy authors include Wong, Vancura & Fuchs, Snyder, Carlson, Humble, George C., Renzey, Stricker, Shackleford, and Canfield. The software also allows users to define custom strategies in detail, including strategy, betting, Lucky Ladies, Red/Black, Royal Match, hole-counting, and Over/Under 13 approaches. It records and warns about strategy violations.
Rule sets and casino-style table formats
CV includes more than 100 rule and play variations, and users can create their own rules when a desired game is not represented. Its casino-definition database contains 1,170 rule sets from 740 actual casinos, ranging from Las Vegas and Indian reservations to cruise ships and Kathmandu. A user can select a casino definition or establish a custom game.
The program supports a variety of blackjack table formats. Players can sit in the center or at either end of a table, with the table rotated and cards dealt sideways or upside down to provide a different perspective. Specialized formats for Multi-Action and side bets are also supported. Included maps cover three cities and 17 states, displaying casino locations, statistics, and rules. For TrackJack subscribers, the CV/TrackJack link can load updated blackjack casino information from the Internet.
Practice conditions and feedback
- 3D graphics: Photo-realistic graphics, animated discard trays, multiple card designs, and dealer cards shaped and sized to suggest distance.
- Statistics: Logs, graphs, and statistics stored in a relational database that can be searched and segmented. Pop-up statistics can appear when the mouse moves over on-screen hot spots.
- Calculators: An Advantage Calculator for calculating starting casino advantage under selected rules and deck counts, plus a Risk of Ruin Calculator for considering bets or bankroll requirements.
- Heat indicator: An algorithm intended to indicate the amount of casino attention a player’s conduct may be drawing.
- Deck biases: Five optional deck biases that force more difficult hands and adapt to a user’s errors, rather than relying primarily on easier hands.
- Dealer-error practice: Seven types of dealer errors that users can practice detecting.
Advanced play support
CV provides warnings for violations of complex strategies during play. These include betting side counts, complex cover play, betting and Wonging by deck depth, multiple-hand betting, multi-parameter tables, counting by inference, and different index sets by deck depth. It also supports complex basic-strategy rules for games such as Spanish 21 and SuperFun 21.
Supported unusual blackjack games include Multi-Action, Over/Under 13, Red/Black, Double Exposure, Royal Match, Bust Out, Super 7’s, Spanish 21, SuperFun 21, 21 Madness, Lucky Ladies, Blackjack Switch, and Seven & 1/2. The software also lists expert methods including front loading, spooking, Wonging, warped card recognition, and team play.
Finally, Internet Tests provide standardized tests through which users can compare results with other users online. Overall, Casino Verite combines tutorial material, realistic table presentation, configurable rules, drills, strategy testing, and detailed performance records into a blackjack practice environment.
